Whatcha Lookin 4

Greetings to all, thank God that we have made it to this "hump" day Wednesday, the middle of this week. We have awakened this morning with a loving God who is Almighty. Let us thank Him for bringing us thus far, and I pray that each of us will continue to seek to love Him above everything. Amen

Every day we go to God in prayer, seeking and asking for something. The Lord is the author and finisher of our faith. We should be looking to Him for everything because it is He who sustains us.

The inspiration for today's title comes from when I lived in El Paso, Texas, and my friend Eva every time I would ride with her, she would play Kirk Franklin's new cd, and I promise you, her favorite song was "Whatcha Lookin 4, she must have kept it on repeat.

Sample Lyrics: "Whatcha Lookin 4"

I was searchin'

For someone to love me right

Hear me when I cry

Keep me late at night

Jesus came even in my misery

Wipe the tears from my eyes

This is what He said:

Whatcha lookin' 4

I'm the One you're lookin' 4

Whatcha searchin' 4

You don't have to search no more

Give you peace and joy

Fill your life with happiness

Don't you look no more

'Cause I'm the One you're lookin' 4

After all those years, this song often comes to mind when my faith is weak, and I find myself in a spiritual battle, torn between wanting the things pleasing to my flesh versus listening to my spirit.

When our faith is weak, and we are looking for fulfillment in this life, instead of digging deeper into God's word, we tend to dig into the things of this world, as if we will find what our soul needs.

Colossians 3:2 (KJV)

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Colossians 2:1-3 (GW)

1 I want you to know how hard I work for you, for the people of Laodicea, and for people I have never met.

2 Because they are united in love, I work so that they may be encouraged by all the riches that come from a complete understanding of Christ. He is the mystery of God.

3 God has hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ.

Christ is our answer for wisdom and knowledge to fulfill living life here on earth; we don't need to look to the world or any other source. We only need to dig deeper into the truth of God's word.

Deuteronomy 4:29 (MSG)

29 But even there, if you seek GOD, your God, you'll be able to find him if you're serious, looking for him with your whole heart and soul.

Lesson: As Christians, we have the unique privilege of looking to Jesus, our finisher, and the One who perfects us. Everything is in His control (Hebrews 2:10).

The song, "Whatcha Lookin 4" ends with this biblical truth:

(Jesus saying)

What you want

I've got it

What you need, I'm the One you're lookin' 4

It's yours

I'm the One you're lookin' 4
