What Matters Is The Way We See Ourselves

Greetings to all, let us thank God for this new day. Let us ask Him to give us the confidence and the ability to do His will and believe in ourselves. Amen

Yesterday we talked about testing the spirits (of others). Today we put our focus on ourselves. In our lifetime, we will encounter many people who will not be there always, and we will have many situations to come and go. As we move through this week, there may be people, issues, or situations that come that we may not be able to change.

It is so crucial that, as Christians, we know our identity in Christ. We must know who we are and whose we are.

When others cause issues in our lives, and when situations out of our control happen, we must decide not to let them or the way others feel about them negatively impact us.

We may or may not have the ability to change people, issues, and situations, but we can change how we think about them and respond to them. Whether it from oneself or others, constant criticism will eventually lead us to feel guilty and shame, ultimately impacting our self-image.

2 Corinthians 13:5-8 (HCSB)

5 Test yourselves ⌊to see⌋ if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless you fail the test.

6 And I hope you will recognize that we do not fail the test.

7 Now we pray to God that you do nothing wrong—not that we may appear to pass the test, but that you may do what is right, even though we ⌊may appear⌋ to fail.

8 For we are not able to do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.

Lesson: We don't have to work hard to please others or let the way they feel about us make us change ourselves. When we are faithful and believe in ourselves, anything is possible.

What matters is the way we see ourselves.
