Greetings to all, this Sunday, let us praise God for His power, presence, and purpose in each of our lives, and may He give us the wisdom and courage to use them for His Glory.
In our preaching, teaching, and sharing the word, we do all that we can to lift Jesus in an attempt to draw others. What we miss is that Jesus has already allowed Himself to be lifted.
John 12:27-32 (NLT2)
27 "Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, 'Father, save me from this hour'? But this is the very reason I came!
28 Father, bring glory to your name." Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, "I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again."
29 When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him.
30 Then Jesus told them, "The voice was for your benefit, not mine.
31 The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.
32 And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself."
John 3:16 (TLB)
16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Lesson: Being lifted gave Christ the power to meet humanity's greatest need; we needed a savior for forgiveness. It also revealed to us the greatest love and sacrifice, which still has the power to draw.
