The Power Of Persuasion

Greetings to all, let us thank God for allowing us to make it to the end of another week. This Friday morning, let us thank the Lord for being our shepherd leading and guiding us as we continue to lean and depend on Him for direction in our lives. Amen

Every day we are being pushed and pulled in many different directions. It seems like everyone is trying to persuade us to help them, give to them, or do what they want us to do.

There is nothing wrong with persuasion; our ability to persuade and influence people can be one of our most critical and valuable skills.

The problem is when we underestimate people's power to persuade and convince others to see things their way. Especially the things that go against what we know to be right and against our faith.

Instead of trying to persuade and control others for our benefit, the world would be a much better place if more people would ask God for a burning desire and passion for seeing others come to Christ; like the Apostle Paul in the following scripture: Acts 26:27-29 (NKJV) 27 King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe." 28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You almost persuade me to become a Christian." 29 And Paul said, "I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains." Sharing God's word can sometimes feel like the proverb that says: "You can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink;" which means that we can give someone a chance or an opportunity, but we can't force them to take it. Lesson: As Christians, we are to share the word of God, known as the Living Water, but if people are not thirsty, they will not drink. We are to be patient with ourselves and those we share because God ultimately has the power of persuasion and will give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:7). We can only let them know the rewards and the costs of living a life apart from God.
