The Lord Is Our Light And Salvation

Greetings to all, let us thank God for waking us up on this "grateful" Thursday morning and for the countless blessings that He has given to us this week. May the joy of the Lord shine through each of us today! Amen

In this life, we can expect to have our ups and downs and dark times, yet we still have much to be grateful for despite being in the midst of what we may be going through.

As children of God, we can have the confidence that the light of the Lord is present, even when the darkness seems unbearable.

Light is an essential theme in the Bible; we could say the narrative of the Bible is one of God's people advancing from darkness to light. Despite our being in dark times, there is always hope because we serve an awesome God who is with us and promises to be with us whether we feel His presence.

In the following scripture, David the Psalmist testifies to God's power as everything that we need when we are in the midst of dark and troubling situations or times.

Psalm 27:1-6 (NLT2)

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

2 When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.

3 Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.

4 The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD's perfections and meditating in his Temple.

5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.

6 Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his sanctuary, I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing, and praising the LORD with music.

Lesson: We can be grateful because, like the psalmist, we are always in God's presence.

We can be brave and not fearful despite having enemies or facing hurt, harm, and dark times because Jesus is our light and our salvation.
