Greetings to all, the theme of this week during Advent is Love! May we feel the love of God and the presence of His guardian angels that He has given charge over our lives. May His goodness and mercy follow each of us no matter where this week takes us. Amen
We know that John 3:16 speaks to the powers of God's Unwavering love and faithfulness for us. No matter where we come from or where we want to go in life, each of us desires to have the gift of love that comes from God. We eventually learn that the love that comes from God will make us more focused and inspired to be more loving than being loved.
God's plan for the world was presented and introduced from humble beginnings; straight "outta" the town of Bethlehem, the expected Messiah's birthplace.
We are told in Zechariah 4:10 not to despise small beginnings because God is more pleased with what is right than what is big.
Bigger is not always better.
Micah 5:2-4 (NRSV)
2 " But you, O Bethlehem of Ephrathah, who are one of the little clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to rule in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days.
3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has brought forth; then the rest of his kindred shall return to the people of Israel.
4 And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they shall live secure, for now, he shall be great to the ends of the earth;
Lesson: There will be times when the world's standards will make what we do for God seem small and of no importance. We must continue to be faithful in the small opportunities, begin where we are and do our best to love others.
Where ever we are from, we must not be discouraged by our own small and humble beginnings; our first opportunity to show love is to show love for ourselves and accept who we truly are.
