Selah: Pause And Reflect

Greetings to all, let us thank God for His fresh and new grace this Saturday morning. We have come through a week full of hope. Let us rejoice in our confident hope today and as we pray, let us pause, reflect, and meditate on the Goodness of our protective and awesome God. Amen

Coming through a week of having hope, today, we are encouraged to look to God and to press pause on the noise of life. Even if we are not where we want to be, we still need to take a breath, stop, and reflect on the goodness of God.

Sometimes when God has a blessing us, we are not in the right position. We need to be in a position to be able to receive what He has for us. We may need to stop, take a moment to breathe, and enjoy not just the material things but the joy and peace that we can experience when we pause and reflect on what God has already done.

Selah is a Hebrew word that means to pause and take a breath, reflect, rest, and stop. Selah is used only 74 times in the bible. Seventy-one times in psalms and three times in Habakkuk.

When we're reading the word of God, we do not need to say Selah at the end of a passage. It is used to let us know to stop, pause, and reflect on what God has just said to us.

There is so much going on in the world and our lives today! We can quickly get distracted and caught up in turmoil, forgetting that God is with us.

Psalm 46:10-11 (NCV)

10 God says, "Be quiet and know that I am God. I will be supreme over all the nations; I will be supreme in the earth. "

11 The LORD All-Powerful is with us; the God of Jacob is our defender. Selah

Psalm 46:10-11 (NKJV)

10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

11 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Lesson: We need to know that we don't always have to say anything or do anything in times of trouble because God is our refuge.

Today, let us pause, take a breath, and stop looking at our situations or what's going on in our lives or the world today. Reflect on God's goodness! "SELAH"
