Greetings to all, let us thank God for bringing us to another Tuesday. He's giving us yet another chance to know Him and to follow Him. May each of us experience Him in a new way by being better than we were yesterday. Amen
What is it that makes us a "good person?"
Everyone desires to be a good person. Unfortunately, in trying to be good or even better, we tend to rely on others' opinions about who or what we should be—thus causing us to work at proving ourselves as worthy by them or by their standards.
Don't get me wrong; I don't think that there is anything wrong with getting or giving the viewpoint or the assessment of others in our life.
I believe It becomes a problem when we rely solely on what others think about us, or when we assume that others should live up to our standards rather than by what our Heavenly Father says about each of us.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT2)
11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 (NLT2)
15 See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.
Again I ask, What is it that makes us a "good person?"
Romans 3:10-12 (TLB)
10 As the Scriptures say, "No one is good—no one in a
all the world is innocent."
11 No one has ever really followed God's paths or even truly wanted to.
12 Everyone has turned away; all have gone wrong. No one anywhere has kept on doing what is right, not one.
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Lesson: We will know each other by our actions (Matthew 7:16). Since we all need to be made right with God, we don't need to pressure ourselves by trying to prove ourselves to each other.
We are only going to be made right and free from sin by the Grace of God, which is a gift to us through Jesus Christ (Romans 3:24).
