Jesus Flipping Tables

Greetings to all, thank God for allowing us to see another blessed Sunday. With all the distractions around us, let us not forget to ask the Lord to forgive us of everything we have done, said, or thought that is not pleasing in His sight. Amen

Jesus is serious about faith and has never tolerated anything less than us being faithful. If we have a desire for Jesus to live in our lives, we must be willing to allow Him to do a clean sweep of our hearts and minds.

Many say they are believers, but corruption is everywhere.

And the church is no exception! We can become so occupied and bombarded with performing and the routine traditions that the distractions cause us not to focus on what God will have us to focus on, like being faithful and authentic worshippers.

John 4:23 (GW)

23 Indeed, the time is coming, and it is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. The Father is looking for people like that to worship him.

It seems like so many people are using their positions of authority for their gain and having little or no concern for the people they promise to protect, lead or serve.

2 Timothy 3:5 (GW)

5 They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Stay away from such people.

John 2:13-17 (NRSV)

13 The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14 In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables.

15 Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

16 He told those who were selling the doves, "Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father's house a marketplace!"

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."

Lesson: Corruption and distractions were in God's house, and Jesus was cleansing it. I know some are back in church, and many of us are not attending church as usual right now; we all must be mindful that Jesus wants God's house to be a place of joy, not corruption, distractions, and obligations.

He still wants to drive out all the things that can potentially hold us back from becoming the person or the people God wants us to be and from having sincere worship of God.
