Greetings to all, on this "grateful" Thursday, we have much to be thankful for; we serve the Most High God, and we can trust Him to be loving and kind to us. Amen
Our busyness and the constant pressures in life could easily cause us to forget that we need God in our lives. It was a time last year, the beginning of 2020, that we were all busy doing what we do and going where we go. That is until our lives as we knew them came to an abrupt halt.
It is easy for us to be frightened by the unknown and evilness we see all around us and to be overwhelmed by the problems we face. It's during those times we need to ask God to reveal Himself to us. He is the giver of life, so we should trust Him with our lives.
1 John 4:4b (NRSV)
4 for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Still today, we live in a time when it is more evident that we need God more than ever, and while God desires to reveal His goodness, mercy, sovereignty, and compassion to us, His face is too great for us.
Exodus 33:18-20 (MSG)
18 Moses said, "Please. Let me see your Glory."
19 GOD said, "I will make my Goodness pass right in front of you; I'll call out the name, GOD, right before you. I'll treat well whomever I want to treat well and I'll be kind to whomever I want to be kind."
20 GOD continued, "But you may not see my face. No one can see me and live."
Lesson: There is nothing wrong with requesting more from God. Physically, seeing God would undoubtedly make trusting Him easier; but since seeing God face to face is not an option, we must not be afraid and ask God to open our spiritual eyes to see Him in our everyday situations (Ref. 2 Kings 6:17).
