Greetings to all, on this glorious Sunday, let us not be nervous or anxious about anything. Let us boldly expect and look to God for an exciting, healthy, and prosperous future. Amen
Just because we are coming out of a challenging year, there is no need for us to be afraid of our future. It's all in God's hand, and we have not because we ask not!
James 4:2-3 (NLT2)
2 You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it.
3 And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 (HCSB)
11 For I know the plans I have for you"—⌊this is⌋ the LORD's declaration—"plans for ⌊your⌋ welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
12 You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Although we know that God has a plan for us and our future, we must defend ourselves and stand up against all manner of evil for ourselves, our hopes, faith, and our future with each passing day. Each of us must believe that God is faithful and merciful to take care of our every need.
In fact, we may have to do as the five daughters of Zelophehad (Ze-lo-phe-had) in the scripture today and flip the script or step entirely out of the box to have something we want.
We may have to boldly do something that has never been done before.
Numbers 27:1 (TLB)
1 One day, the daughters of Zelophehad came to the entrance of the Tabernacle to give a petition to Moses, Eleazar the priest, the tribal leaders, and others who were there.
Numbers 27:3-7 (TLB)
3 "Our father died in the wilderness," they said, "and he was not one of those who perished in Korah's revolt against the Lord—it was a natural death, but he had no sons.
4 Why should the name of our father disappear just because he had no son? We feel that we should be given property along with our father's brothers."
5 So Moses brought their case before the Lord.
6 And the Lord replied to Moses,
7 "The daughters of Zelophehad are correct. Give them land along with their uncles; give them the property that would have been given to their father if he had lived.
Lesson: Are you ready? Moving forward this year, let us have the courage and determination of those five sisters who believed in the mercifulness of God.
The five daughters petitioned Moses before everyone, from the priests to the people of the community. God wants us not to fear no one and to come boldly to His throne, bringing our cares to Him.
We must be like those daughters.
What courage and determination they must have had in a patriarchal (male-dominated) society to take on such a challenge, asking for what they wanted!
