Greetings to all, on this Saturday, let us take a moment to rest and not allow the weight of missed opportunities and the things of this world to crush us. Amen
Each of us has a longing in our hearts to do our best to succeed in life. This longing drives us to work and work hard, only to experience stress, burnout, and the exhaustion of a restless heart.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-11 (NCV)
9 Do people really gain anything from their work?
10 I saw the hard work God has given people to do.
11 God has given them a desire to know the future. He does everything just right and on time, but people can never completely understand what he is doing.
God has given us work to do, and He desires that we are happy in our works. He also wants us to rest. The invitation to rest that Jesus gave still stands for us today.
Mark 6:31 (NCV)
31 Crowds of people were coming and going so that Jesus and his followers did not even have time to eat. He said to them, “Come away by yourselves, and we will go to a lonely place to get some rest.“
Psalm 23:2 (NCV)
2 He lets me rest in green pastures. He leads me to calm water.
Lesson: Depending on our attitude towards our work, we all, at some point, will experience stress and restless hearts. Because of the eternity God has put in our hearts, it will be hard for us to find satisfaction in earthy passions and hard works without Him.
