Foolishness And Power Of Preaching

Writer's picture: NamieNamie

Greetings to all, as we pause to honor God this Sunday, let us pray for the preaching of His word and thank Him for the wisdom that only He can give.

As often as we can, we should pause to praise God for the wisdom and power of His word in our lives. However, many don't believe and don't like hearing the preaching of the word. And seem to see it as foolishness and not its ability to save.

1 Corinthians 1:18–21 (NLT)

18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.

19 As the Scriptures say, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent."

20 So, where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

Lesson: For those of us who preach God's word, we desire to please God by magnifying His wisdom and power through the foolishness of preaching.
