Greetings to all, thank God for another 'grateful" Thursday. I pray that each of us is wise enough to be grateful. Let us allow our gratitude to make us truly thankful for what we have and who we are. Amen
In the frailty of our human condition, we often allow our hearts to forget the blessings and the promises of God. Throughout the history of humanity, we also tend to underestimate His Providence.
We can look at the Israelites when God freed them from Egypt and provided manna every morning. Instead of thanking God for where he had brought them from; and, what He was doing, they complained to and frustrated Moses as though they had a sense of entitlement.
Numbers 11:13-15 (MSG)
13 Where am I supposed to get meat for all these people who are whining to me, 'Give us meat; we want meat.'
14 I can't do this by myself—it's too much, all these people.
15 If this is how you intend to treat me, do me a favor and kill me. I've seen enough; I've had enough. Let me out of here."
John 6:1-9 (MSG)
1 After this, Jesus went across the Sea of Galilee (some call it Tiberias).
2 A huge crowd followed him, attracted by the miracles they had seen him do among the sick.
3 When he got to the other side, he climbed a hill and sat down, surrounded by his disciples.
4 It was nearly time for the Feast of Passover, kept annually by the Jews.
5 When Jesus looked out and saw that a large crowd had arrived, he said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread to feed these people?"
6 He said this to stretch Philip's faith. He already knew what he was going to do.
7 Philip answered, "Two hundred silver pieces wouldn't be enough to buy bread for each person to get a piece."
8 One of the disciples—it was Andrew, brother to Simon Peter—said,
9 "There's a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But that's a drop in the bucket for a crowd like this."
Jesus was bringing attention to the powerful and miraculous act that he was about to perform.
Lesson: God wants to stretch our faith and desires that we depend upon Him because He is sufficient and ENOUGH.
We must be grateful, always praising God, and keeping our focus on who we are and what we have and not what we don't have.
