Greetings to all, on this Wednesday, let us seek God for clarity of our minds and that He strengthens us. May we be willing to keep going with purpose and direction as we move forward, knowing that our God takes great delight in each of us. Amen
How many of us at some point in time have compared ourselves to someone else?
Jesus told a story in Luke 18: 9-14 to some who were pridefully pleased with themselves over their self-righteously and looked down their noses at the ordinary people.
Comparison has been around for a long time, and comparing ourselves to others is a part of our human nature. Living in a culture of comparison makes it sometimes hard to remain optimistic about who we are and what we do.
Romans 12:6-8 (MSG)
6 let's just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren't. If you preach, just preach God's Message, nothing else;
7 if you help, just help, don't take over; if you teach, stick to your teaching;
8 if you give encouraging guidance, be careful that you don't get bossy; if you're put in charge, don't manipulate; if you're called to give aid to people in distress, keep your eyes open and be quick to respond; if you work with the disadvantaged, don't let yourself get irritated with them or depressed by them. Keep a smile on your face.
Lesson: Let us not worry or concern ourselves with how we measure up to others, and let us not be so overly confident that we look down on others. God's plan for each of us is original and unique.
