Greetings to all, on this third Sunday in October, let's think pink as we worship today. Let us pause to support the fighters, admire the survivors, and honor the taken of breast cancer. May they and their families feel God's love, strength, and encouragement. Amen
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We use this time to pause, wear pink, and raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
Although mammograms can be just a little uncomfortable for some, we know that early detection saves lives. They can reveal whether we are cancer-free or not. Many avoid getting checked because they don't want to face reality.
No one chooses to have breast cancer, but those who get it say that they have no choice but to face it daily. When I've spoken with those who are fighting and those who are survivors, they say they've found hope along their journeys that help them never give up; and that they hold on to their faith in God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (HCSB)
3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.
4 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Romans 5:3-5 (HCSB)
3 And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance,
4 endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.
5 This hope will not disappoint ⌊us⌋, because God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Lesson: We must continue to hope, be patient in tribulation, and continue to be in constant prayers (Romans 12:12) for a cure for all those battling this dreadful disease.
Only God's power can fill any of us with enough strength to endure the pain and suffering with a spirit of joyfulness.
