Being A Donkey For Jesus

Greetings to all, on this Palm Sunday, let us be reminded that while life is not always easy, we don't have to carry the burden of sins because Jesus has taken them all to the cross. Amen

We can find the event of Jesus's Triumphal entry into Jerusalem on His way to the cross in all the 4 Gospels. It is written about in Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19.

In many cases, when the story is told, the focus is on Jesus and the crowd, not the Donkey. We can learn lessons from the Donkey. Like the Donkey, we are chosen to lift Jesus up and carry Him through the many people in our daily lives.

Genesis 49:10-11a (NCV)

10 Kings will come from Judah's family; someone from Judah will always be on the throne. Judah will rule until Shiloh comes, and the nations will obey him.

11 He ties his Donkey to a grapevine, his young Donkey to the best branch.

Zechariah 9:9 (NCV)

9 Rejoice greatly, people of Jerusalem! Shout for joy, people of Jerusalem! Your king is coming to you. He does what is right, and he saves. He is gentle and riding on a donkey, on the colt of a donkey.

Luke 19:28-31 (NCV)

28 After Jesus said this, he went on toward Jerusalem.

29 As Jesus came near Bethphage and Bethany, towns near the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent out two of his followers.

30 He said, "Go to the town you can see there. When you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here to me.

31 If anyone asks you why you are untying it, say that the Master needs it. "

Lesson: If we are going to be a donkey, let it be for Jesus. The Donkey had been prophesized about in Old Testament scriptures, and he was born for the time when Jesus would need him.

Jesus needed the Donkey, and He needs each of us.

To be used like the Donkey that Jesus sent for, we need to realize that He chose us, be humble, and, more importantly, available.

Are you today willing to be a donkey for Jesus?
