Greetings to all, thank God for another blessed day. May it be productive as we trust and believe Him to work everything for our good. Amen
As we live and go about our daily lives, working and encountering others throughout the week, We must be careful not to follow others. Although living in community is important and has a lot to do with having a stable and reliable life. We must obey and build our lives on Jesus, the Solid Rock.
If we were to ask a house builder, what is the essential part of building a house, they would say the foundation; not just any foundation but a stable and solid foundation.
As Christians, we are encouraged to live in community and use the gifts and talents given to us. We can use the metaphor of building a house when we live our lives, especially when it comes to sincerely and genuinely building up others and building God's kingdom.
1 Corinthians 3:10-15 (NCV)
10 Using the gift God gave me, I laid the foundation of that house like an expert builder. Others are building on that foundation, but all people should be careful how they build on it.
11 The foundation that has already been laid is Jesus Christ, and no one can lay down any other foundation.
12 But if people build on that foundation, using gold, silver, jewels, wood, grass, or straw,
13 their work will be clearly seen, because the Day of Judgment will make it visible. That Day will appear with fire, and the fire will test everyone's work to show what sort of work it was.
14 If the building that has been put on the foundation still stands, the builder will get a reward.
15 But if the building is burned up, the builder will suffer loss. The builder will be saved, but it will be as one who escaped from a fire.
Matthew 7:24-27 (GW)
24 "Therefore, everyone who hears what I say and obeys it will be like a wise person who built a house on rock.
25 Rain poured, and floods came. Winds blew and beat against that house. But it did not collapse, because its foundation was on rock.
26 "Everyone who hears what I say but doesn't obey it will be like a foolish person who built a house on sand.
27 Rain poured, and floods came. Winds blew and struck that house. It collapsed, and the result was a total disaster."
Lesson: Building on a firm foundation will help us to weather the storms of life. Every day, we must be wise and not foolish. We must live and build our works on the foundation of Christ Jesus. For, in the end, He will judge our works to see if they are valuable works that have lasting value.
