Greetings to all, let us come before our holy God on this blessed Sunday morning with bowed heads and humble hearts as we worship Him. May He continue to bless us, prosper us, and give us peace. Amen
There are so many things that we worship besides the Lord. Now, our worship places and styles have changed tremendously during this COVID 19 Pandemic, with the churches being closed for worship. Many churches have since reopened, but many are still closed for prayer and worship.
We must not give up on God because the church buildings are closed. God assures us by saying: "I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
As believers, we're being built up into a spiritual house, the church's picture that God is building all over the earth. We are the church, and Christ is the cornerstone (1 Peter 2:5).
God is holy and has given us a standard for living and how we are to worship Him. According to the Law in the old testament, a sacrifice was necessary, but God made it plain that Obedience from the heart was much more critical. "Obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22; Psalm 40:6; Amos 5:21 -24)."
God wants us to live a good life where He gets the glory and gives Him acceptable worship! In the following scripture, the people of Israel were bringing the Lord their offerings and sacrifices, but He refused them because of their disobedience.
Amos 5:21-24 (MSG)
21 "I can't stand your religious meetings. I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions.
22 I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans, and goals. I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations, and image-making.
23 I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. When was the last time you sang to me?
24 Do you know what I want? I want justice—oceans of it. I want fairness—rivers of it. That's what I want. That's all I want.
Lesson: God does not accept all of our worship. If we're going to live a life pleasing to God, we must understand how critical and essential sincere worship is.
Without hesitation, we must be mindful of the condition of our hearts and attitude as we commit to worshiping God.
