Greetings to all, thank God for another day. Let us boldly approach the throne of God on this Sunday morning. Let us ask for special blessings of renewed strength and wisdom for Pastors and Clergy who are serving worldwide. Amen
While we know that we are to show appreciation throughout the year for our Pastors and Clergy, the second Sunday in October is set aside for Pastor Appreciation for many of us. It's a time when we recognize and honor them for their work for the kingdom of God and the support they give to all as servant leaders.
As the body of Christ, we must encourage and lift each other. Especially our pastors who have many responsibilities and carry the burdens of many. Pastors are such a needed part of our lives and are the ones we turn to and depend on for spiritual direction.
Our desire should be to have a Pastor who Loves God, is a strong leader, and one who knows that their approval comes from God.
We should always be in much-needed prayer for them, asking God to bless them with everything they need in their personal lives and for what is required to lead and shepherd God's people.
Jeremiah 3:15 (NLT2)
15 And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding.
One of the most extraordinary things we can do is recognize that Pastors aren't perfect. They are not immune to the enemy's attacks and can also experience many of the same struggles that everyone else does.
Jesus says this referring to himself and His Disciples Just before being arrested: "Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered (Zechariah 13:7)." He knew without Him; they would be scattered.
The same applies to the church today. Without a Leader, the people scatter.
Zechariah 11:17 (AMP)
17 Woe to the worthless and foolish shepherd who deserts the flock! The sword shall smite his arm and his right eye; his arm shall be utterly withered and his right eye utterly blinded.
"Israel would not only reject the true shepherd; it would accept a worthless shepherd instead. This shepherd would serve his concerns rather than the concerns of his flock and would destroy rather than defend them." - Life Application Study Bible.
Lesson: Praise God for an excellent Pastor, who will prepare, not fear preaching God's word, and will not only defend but teach the Bible and about Jesus so that we can relate.
Let's lift and keep our Pastors and their families in prayer!
